WTM: TUI Travel warns hotels and destinations to consider sustainability

TUI Travel will not work with hotels and even destinations who do not meet sustainability standards in the future, UK and Ireland managing director Dermot Blastland has said.

Speaking at a session called What Will the Outbound UK Travel Market Look Like in 2023?, he said all the operator’s featured hotels would have to achieve approved status within the Travelife Sustainability System within five years.

“Over time, we will not work with hotels that do not take this seriously,” he said.

“It’s a waste of time to put effort into places that don’t take this seriously. In the future, we may not feature those who don’t measure up.”
