The Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur features in the list of the fastest growing destinations, up 43%, while Koh Samui, Thailand’s second largest island, was the third fastest growing destination overall, up 36%.

Sri Lanka and Langkawi in Malaysia complete the list of the top five fastest growing destinations, with bookings up 32% and 27% respectively.

The Thai capital of Bangkok was the most popular city break destination based on bookings in January, followed by Abu Dhabi,
Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur and Las Vegas.

Southall Travel sales director Jaymin Borkhatria said: “It has been an incredibly busy month with bookings up around 10% this January compared to last.

‘Dubai is proving more popular than ever and we expect it to welcome many more British holidaymakers to its beaches this year.

“Bali is becoming increasingly popular amongst British travellers and with more flights available and many fantastic hotels and resorts offering great value, we expect this trend to continue throughout 2017.”
