Thomas Cook’s blood must run through Fontenla-Novoa’s veins, as he has spent most of his 30-year travel industry career with the operator, starting in the print room in the 1970s. He took the helm of Thomas Cook UK in 2003, rising to chief executive in 2007, after helping orchestrate the company’s merger with MyTravel.
