Since 1933, when the hotel manager brought his decoy ducks back and let them overnight in the fountain, the Peabody Hotel in Memphis has had its own ducks. Led by a duckmaster, the ducks - who live on the roof - make their way down to the marble fountain in the lobby at 11am. There they splash around all day until 5pm, when they are led with much pomp and circumstance across the lobby on a red carpet and into the lifts, where they again ascend to the roof. I love America.
