Hi ! We were in Dubai in January 2008 for a week's cruise in the Arabian Gulf and 5 days in Dubai. We were there during George Bush's visit. The following day , there were FIVE INCHES of rain ! Unheard of in Dubai. Every roundabout was flooded with 18 inches / 3 ft of water ! Any way, following our visit, I wrote a web-site , www.visit-dubai.co.uk, with a lot of information on the place, including holidays, shopping, hotels etc. If you put the search "visit dubai " into Google UK, this site is TOP. Put it into Google. com, globally, and our site is 2nd or 3rd. There are even some really useful Dubai tourism domains on there , plus others for other UAE emirates, like Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Fujairah. There are 7 emirates in the United Arab Emirates. The UAE is a fascinating place. The modern architecture of many high-rise buildings is superb. Worth seeing Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in particular. Other emirates......Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras al Khaimah , Ajman and Umm Al Quwain are not as developed a the other two, although there are pockets. Sharjah is virtually built up right next to the Dubai border. Dubai has gone development mad and over-reached itself with some grandiose developments, incurring a great deal of future debt . Abu Dhabi is now trying to help Dubai to sort things out.
