NCL Epic may resemble a blocks of flats but it’s the inside that counts. And that does have the Wow factor with a few quirks. A massive chandelier is suspended in the atrium, the Mandara Spa is cool, scented and inviting. Staterooms are plush and comfy.
Epic will appeal to anyone who values choice and entertainment. There are 20 freestyle dining options, I lunched in the Manhattan Room with the girls from Holidays First near Sheffield, the food was perfect. The speciality Spiegel Tent restaurant looks interesting, you eat while circus acts perform around you, there are also Asian, steakhouse and French options.
Bars include O`Sheegans Irish pub, and the first Ice Bar at sea which costs about $25 to be wrapped up in a parka and served two drinks.
The Blue Man group feature in the 685 seat theatre, there is a casino, champagne bar, Fat Cats for live jazz and Bliss ultra lounge which was purple and mysterious with a bowling lane and pool tables. Tribute acts include Tina, Elvis and Madonna.

This ship will be heaven for singles who resent paying a supplement. There are 128 studio cabins with a communal Studio Lounge area with a bar and coffee station. Decor is white with chunks of colour and blue lit glass doors connecting the Lounge to the corridor. Each studio has a double bed and some have circular windows onto the corridor, thankfully with a blind attached. Access is by key card only to the Lounge and each studio has 100 square feet of space, some are connecting for friends that like their own privacy.
The Aqua park has the largest tube slide called the Epic Plunge. There are kids clubs and Teen Lounge with TV, karaoke and Wii games. There are spa balcony cabins with dinky hot tub and circular bed, 60 suites and the Courtyard Villa complex has private pool area, dining, bar, nightclub and concierge lounge. I know where I`d be staying!
There was far too much carpet, the lighting is a bit dark in some places and the standard wash basins were the sort you would have in your downstairs loo. The hairdressers has the best view on the ship, the outer wall is glass from floor to ceiling.
I was very sad to leave, she has something for everyone.
