AWTE Summer Lunch - New Boardroom Ready Project Announced

A great time was had by all at the AWTE Summer Lunch last Thursday 9 July. Speaker, Rita Beckwith, MD of City Cruises and Chair of Docklands Business Club gave a humourous and insightful account of how she has grown City Cruises to the success it is today.

Chair, Tricia Handley, also announced the new AWTE Boardroom Ready project which is open to AWTE members only and will be officially launched on 20 July, hosted by Gita Patel, Director of City investor, Stargate Capital. The aim of this project is to creat a pool of talented women who will better serve their currrent businesses and board, advise other companies in other sectors and potentially serve as non-executive directors. AWTE members who would like to attend or find out more should email chair@awte.org.uk.

Once again, the AWTE Chairman's Reception prior to the Welcome Party at the ITT Conference in Dubai was a roaring success. The room was buzzing, Travel Weekly TV were busy interviewing and we were delighted to welcome and introduce Karen Dempsey, TWgroup Editor to say a few words.

There were 3 important announcements: in true AWTE pioneering tradition, we are the first travel association to sign-up for Travelhub - so engage with us, send us your thoughts, ideas, comments, post photos and really make the most of this new social networking tool for the travel community; secondly, we announced our new commercial tie-up with Advantage Travel Centres - for further details see www.awte.org.uk; finally watch out for details of our "Boardroom Ready" project - more details to follow in the forthcoming weeks.
