Hi there, I'm doing a bit of research and wondered which travel (but not supplier) websites you find most useful? Is there one that gives you a great insiders' guide to destinations? One you think gives the best weather forecasts? Or one that you tap into to find out what customers really think of resorts?

Let me know if there are any you find really useful - thanks!

I know that this is not meant for a site like mine, or rather what mine will be when, or rather if I ever get it finished. However, I am looking to add pages for the departure ports and have been looking at various plugins (the site is built using Wordpress blogging software). One of these is called MapPress and if anyone out there has their own blog it is worth looking at.

If you check out my cruises from Southampton page you will see what MapPress can do (please do not read the page, it is truely out of date and pencilled in for an update (probably in May 2013)). There is a facility to get directions to the port as well as a little search box for finding things like hotels etc. If I can get the other port pages built then it could be a great little resource for those wanting to explore before they travel.

I have been looking at weather plugin in, the one with the best functionality is called wp-forcast however it often fails to load when used with the MapPress and other plugins. So I am still searching for one that does what I want it to do without causing site issues.

I have created many websites, including for cheap cruises, cruise deals and a new one attacking cruise holidays.

Travelshots.com is really useful for good images and now it also has HD video clips for creating websites.. The Ipad is going to be great for showing moving images of destinations

Some companies such as P&O use Youtube, that means you can add video using someone else's bandwidth. If you check out my P&O Cruises Accomodation page you can see the end result.

If there is anyone out there who would like to work with me, we could create a great non branded website that would feed Emily's needs.

Possibly one of the best travel websites have to be tripadvisor for general travel. I dont think there has been any other website which has been dynamic enough to be as successful. Although i would like to add that http://www.Cruise.co.uk isnt doing a bad job with all it's reviews and questions and answers.

I find TripAdvisor is a good, active, up-to-date travel site - people from all over (UK, Europe, Canada, USA) seek advice and recommendations when planning their holidays.

Hi Emily,

My brother booked with Royal Caribbean  last  summer and he was very pleased. The website is the following one http://www.cruise118.com/cruise-line/royal-caribbean.html.

You can see that there is a wealth of  information regarding the destinations and the fleet.

Hope the link is useful.

I use Skyscanner a lot, especially when I need to Dynamic Package and also Wunderground for fantastic weather forecasts. Check out their Almanac to see previous years weather.

I do find TripAdvisor useful, although obviously the "user reviews" are not always what they seem and sometimes appear to be shill reviews. However, if you take the "opinions" with a pinch of salt it's a helpful site.

Easy to use, good results and goof prices, specially in Costa Brava.

I agree, MapPress is really useful. I've had some good luck with Kenwoodtravel.com. They provide a pretty in-depth  of its holday destinationsSmile
