With these difficult times in the industry, I was looking at the various tour operators policy concerning the Ash Cloud etc. I really needed something to try and restore confidence to the consumer and give them the encouragement to book with an agent. !! The best I found was Kuoni ; - In the event of flight disruptions due to volcanic ash, we'll fully cover the cost of your holiday (including deposit) if your trip is cancelled by us and cover reasonable accommodation costs if you are stranded abroad until we can bring you home. Before you travel Our dedicated Ash Crisis Team will work with the authorities and our business partners to ensure that we get you away on your holiday as quickly as possible. If you are stranded abroad Our team overseas will be focused on doing everything to help you whilst you are stranded abroad, along with support from our Ash Crisis Team in the UK. Kuoni Ash Guarantee Terms and Conditions If your holiday is cancelled due to ash disruption we will help you to rebook an alternative holiday at a later date, or we will offer you a full refund. Any increase to the cost of alternative holidays must be paid or a refund of the difference if lower. If affected when overseas and on a package holiday, we will cover the cost of reasonable accommodation on a room only basis. Room and breakfast will also be covered if your stay with us included a meal plan. Costs will only be covered by Kuoni where your airline or insurance provider will not meet the costs. Costs for accommodation and meals will not be met by Kuoni if you have booked on an accommodation only basis. Costs for accommodation and meals will not be met if you have booked on a flight only basis. Would like to here other operators policy on Ash.

I Will not name company's as they are too many to mention. But we have had great service off of all Independent tour operators. Good information both for us and our Clients in resort.

The best policy is to book with a Tour Operator who wish service to be there hallmark.

I agree , plenty operators were very helpful, some not so. ! However I think Kuoni, are the first to come out with a written clear policy for future bookings. Some operators are fudging it. ! This clear concise message from Kuoni really helps give the clients confidence to book. !!  And I think its the confidence some clients are missing. !

Thomson and First Choice package holiday or flight only customers now benefit from a brand new ‘Ash Guarantee’, which reiterates the advantages of booking with an ATOL bonded package tour operator.  In the event that their travel plans are disrupted, the ‘Ash Guarantee’ promises customers that we will get them home or out on holiday as quickly as possible, and that we will pay for any costs if they have to stay on overseas.  In the unlikely event that a holiday is cancelled, Thomson and First Choice will help customers find another great deal on a later holiday or offer a full refund. If an alternative holiday selection is more expensive customers will be required to pay the difference. Reasonable accommodation and food costs are covered for customers affected when overseas.
