The Catalan Tourism Board is to promote itself as a ski destination to British consumers for the first time next year.
After a chat around the office, we found other unusual ski destinations are Poland, Lebanon, Japan and Chile.
Have you been skiing anywhere unusual? If so, what was it like? How did it compare to the resorts that are more popular with UK consumers?
I work with ActivityBreaks and we find that it's actually the less well known resorts which work best for us from the small resorts in the Italian Alps through to Poland and even Catalunya as well. Resorts such as Presolana, Monte Pora, Montecampione and Brembo as well as La Molina and Masella in the Spanish Pyrenees north of Barcelona. So i'm delighted that we'll be able to work with the Pirineus part of the Catalan Tourist Board to further boost sales to this area.
I've been lucky enough to ski across Europe and the Italian resorts mentioned above are ideal for a long weekend with quick access to the slopes - you can be skiing on great snow within 3.5 hours of leaving the UK. I've also skied in the Aragonese resorts in the Spanish Pyrenees such as Formigal, Panticosa and Cerler as well as the fantastic Grandvalira ski area in Andorra and the Catalan ski resorts La Molina / Masella areas. And they are all easily as good as some of the more popular French resorts but without the stigma of being expensive in-resort - just good ski. And lovely spas... but that's another topic entirely!! I remember I have been skiing at Hintertux, AUT at least 25 times! That time of year, it's pretty warm.. Only the very top 500 meters or so of the Glacier may be covered with snow or ice in July. I love skiin.

I have created many websites, including for cheap cruises, cruise deals and a new one attacking cruise holidays.
