Two months ago a 'friend' said that he didn't see the value in using a travel agent as its cheaper on-line. Two weeks ago it was 'John, I need your help'.
He explained that he had booked a holiday on-line and paid a deposit. Unfortunately because the tour operator didn't contact him in time he missed the deadline for paying the balance and the holiday was cancelled and his money was lost.
The tour op didn't contact him because
1. the email address HE GAVE THEM was wrong, so he didn't get the reminder emails
2. the telephone number HE GAVE THEM was for his work mobile, which, as he was away was left at home switched off, so he didn't get the messages until he returned home.
He complained that it is terrible that they didn't make a better effort in contacting him. When he called to try to get the trip rebooked, all they said was that this cancellation option was listed in their terms and conditions, and nothing can be done to refund the deposit.
I asked him if he had read the terms and conditions of booking, 'who reads those' he replied. 'How do I get my money back?'
'Well' I said, 'you could try contacting ABTA, but they will probably find against you, and as a travel agent all I can really say is HA, HA, HA'
We've not spoken since.
Ha ha ha ha!! I love this!!
Ive lost count of the times we have had similar things in our office. People who have messed up on the internet and need out help, will they ever learn.......
They should learn, otherwise this will keep on continuing...such cases!
LOL...you missed an interesting guy in your life. Most of them are like that..even my dad used to be like that..but later my brother convinced now. People must know what is going on and read terms and conditions for sure if not it will be like this.
