I was interested to hear that Radio 4's PM programme is running an interactive edition next Saturday, 5.30pm. iPM (interactive) offers the chance for listeners to contribute ideas for stories via the programme's blog. I mention this because it shows the potential of online communities. Listeners, or in our case readers, get the chance to shape the stories we pursue. From the perspective of the journalist, it's a brilliant opportunity to interact with our audience. What's more, it's a source of news leads - PM has broken some big stories on the back of contributions from listeners to its community.
