Do you use social network sites to boost your business profile and sales? Which sites have worked for you and how?

I used to use social network sites but I now consider it a waste of time. The biggest waste of time is twitter. There must be hundreds of thousands of businesses that use twitter everyday. The comments are soon buried under everybody elses comments and every link that is posted is not followed by google and probably even considered spam.
One of the best social network sites to use is facebook. A good facebook "like" page will generate some interest.

It's all well and good using social networking sites for some free advertising, and putting a message across (I have been known to whack a bargain deal and my office telephone number on my Facebook status) but most IT departments in the multiples have blocked this access on the web from in store computers. If they lifted this 'block' I'm pretty sure staff are likely to take the pi** and use the sites for things other than business boosting!

Yes, I agree with you. Facebook is better then others.

Facebook is probably the most effective in terms of getting brand out to new customer. Twitter also has it's benefits in the sense that you can keep up to date with all the latest news as it happens

Social networks and online communities are the hottest trend in the industry. They allow you to grow your traffic economically by using viral marketing to create a community of travelers who promote your destination or travel service. Social networks also help to increase your search engine visibility, because Google, Yahoo, and MSN favor websites with frequently updated content.

I have at times used multiple social network actions as a way to get to know the online community. It's more for building personal relationships than it is to generate sales.

Facebook is my favorite social networking website. At this time I am using this public media web page and I am sure that customers get something new to use this public media web page.

We use it and it is working now we started to use Net Effects www.latecards.co.uk system that automatically up loads offers.

This gives us the ability to combine window, in store TV, facebook, twitter and website all promoting the same thing with just a few minutes work by us each day
