Does the recent announcement by Orion Expedition Cruises that it is removing all single supplements on its remaining 2010 cruises set a precedent that all operators should now not charge single supplements?  Are these now an outdated way of charging guests?

I hope it does set a precedent, it always seemed incorrect to penalize the single traveller

I hope more cruise lines will follow Orion Expedition as I think it is very unfair to penalise single passengers. Sometimes i have seen single supplements of up to 200% . Although cruise lines seem to have the odd promotion where the single supplement is reduced i still feel these should happen more often.

I fully understand why single supplements are used but I do think it is wrong. All cruise lines need to do is make slight changes to their pricing structures to help give realistic prices to single cruises.

I have created many websites, including for cheap cruises, cruise deals and a new one attacking cruise holidays.

Singles have suffered for too long in the travel market especially in regard to cruise pricing-

I applaud all attempts to make cruises more affordable for singles- they represent a huge growth area in the travel market.
