I was just reading on your web site your article concerning the TUI pricing structure ? Surely this can not be true ? I know sometimes the publications write fake articles for April 1st, - Have you brought it forward this year ?
Honesty, thought, if it wasn't written by a respected journalist like  Lucy Huxley, I would have said its made up.   Whilst I welcome TUI's  push to end there stupid level of on-line discounting - I really can't quite comprehend why they haven't listend to the travel trade in the UK, but a prostitute in Chicago - is that how much contempt they actually hold us in .
I think Dermot Blastland really needs to wake up and live in the real world, whilst we have his associated company's, like Sovereign selling to the consumer cheaper than what our nett price is, I do not think he is in a position to lecture any one about pricing structure.
Thats why we as an agency do not and would not sell any TUI product whilst they have there heavy on line discounts , but proudly support smaller independent operators, such as Classic, Cadogan, W&O Travel and If Only who do not stab there trade partners in the back. !

"He said the challenge was for travel agents on the high street to see if they could do the same and help stamp out the UK’s discount culture"

Well is this a Euraka moment, Has dermot just woken up to the fact that for the past 25 or more years that's exactly What we've been asking Tour operators that discount to do. The UK's Discount culture was started by the Operators and of course the clients will expect more if it's offered to them.

I think he has a damn right cheek challenging us Travel agents to do the same, Perhaps if the Pricing structure was correct in the first place, and ONLY THE NEED FOR 1 BROCHURE ISSUE a year, and the client gets the best price the earlier they book is a win win situation for everybody.

As They say What goes around comes around, so lets get back to how it was in the good old late 60's and 70's where we had hordes of people waiting on our doorsteps on boxing day to book.

Perhaps the Cruise Clubs and cruise Operators will follow suit and One price fits all, and let us do what we do best selling holidays on Service and reputation and not down to a price

You think he might of worked it out as agents have been trying to do this since the 80's....but no because one company above all others has pushed discounts... and the prize for this goes to ....Thomson.

Now they say it everyone's fault but there's.... got love your friends
