Have a look at Wikipedia - there is some good information on Palmair!

Palmair started in the 50s and until this year had the oldest ATOL number in existance 0003!

Hope thats helpful x

Hi travel57

As my colleague Tom_Irwin has pointed out, the book 'Flight to the Sun', by Vladimir Raitz and Roger Bray, published in 2001, is an excellent account of the very first days of UK charter flying. It captures the excitement of striking pioneering deals with Corsican hoteliers (and beyond) and securing the rights to fly. If you can't track down a copy, let me know – I could lend you mine.

@travel57

I have had some contact from someone with knowledge of the history of tour operating and the operators we've listed so far - they are happy for you to contact them, so if you'd like their details please email me at tom.irwin@travelweekly.co.uk
