As an industry I think we all agree consumer financial protection has to be clarified and simplified. However a self promoting in-correct website is not the way to do it and will only lead consumers to further confusion.
However I have to question as this website clearly advertises Travel Councellors and Destinology does this website have anything to do with consumer protection ? Or an back door way of driving business to those two company's. .......me thinks so.
The real danger to consumers is dynamic packaging and the clients piecing everything together themselves.
The so called chart showing what clients are covered for and not, is clearly in-accurate and mis-leading, as if my consortium was listed there, we would be green lights all the way - surprising Travel Counsellors do not want to highlight that - wander why ?
This is a shameful propoganda stunt and serves no purpose to improve consumer protection what soever.
Dear Nick,
We had to start somewhere. We started from a point which tried to bring more balance as the problem is that most consultants think their companies protect customers yet they dont. We believe we give complete financial protection but there are so many myths and misleading claims and uninformed beliefs out there. Nick please forward your consortium's claims and how you financially protect your customers and we will gladly display them on the site. We are asking all travel suppliers to do this. Over time the debate will then become more balanced and we will adapt the site accordingly.

I noticed the TTA were missed off the website?
Does anyone know the latest with the ATOL changes that were supposed to be happening?
Sammy - the latest is no movement, basically. We don't expect anything from the govt before late next year, maybe even 2012. Ian Taylor (our resident expert on this stuff) wrote an analysis on it recently.

Also missing is associations like Worldchoice and Advantage who if the supplier is paid via there central payment system the monies are guaranteed. While David is doing this I think in part to promote his own company things do need to come more out in the open.
To all those stating questions about the TTA it does say Trust Accounts so this would apply.
