Complete Cruise Solution has reduced commission on cancelled bookings to 5% from this month.

CCS sales and customer services director Giles Hawke said: "This will encourage agents to fight harder to retain the booking. The saving we make will help fund other agent incentives."

What do you think, is this fair?

This is another example of a Tour Operator not understanding an agent’s business. So travel agents make a booking say for 4000 pounds with 12.5 % commission = 500, but instead we are happy to cancel a booking and earn just commission on the deposit 400 @ 10 % = 40 pounds.

Most of the agents work is selling the holiday, so we spend 60 -70 % of our time before the customer cancels and then maybe 10% on cancelation so according to the cruise line the last 30-20% (taking balance and sending tickets) is worth 460 and the first 70-80% worth 40... Well it was, now it is worth 20!

Travel Agents hate cancelations it costs us more just to deal with the cancelation part then we get in commission from the operator. So saying we do not try and keep the booking is stupid.
