Ferry operator Norfolkline has announced the appointment of Sydney Henderson to the newly created role of online marketing manager, responsible for overseeing the company's e-marketing strategy and implementation of new online initiatives.

Henderson's experience includes six years as managing director of Columbus Travel Insurance and Club Direct Travel Insurance where he was responsible for running a multilingual website across Europe and Australasia. Most recently, Henderson held the position of marketing category manager for plumbing and drainage specialists, Marley Extrusions Ltd.

Luxury cruise operator Silversea has announced the appointment of David Smith as area sales manager. Reporting to regional sales manager of the North, Jon Schofield, Smith will be responsible for the development of trade relations in the North East of England and other selected regions.

Smith's experience includes working for Cunard as passenger manager and for Hebridean Island Cruises, where he worked for fourteen years as national account manager.
Air Europa's UK office has appointed Sarah Mullane as the new commercial manager and Federico García de Paredes as commercial executive. Mullane joins from The Crown Group where she was group sales manager. Federico García de Paredes joins Air Europa from the Spanish Chamber of Commerce/European Business School, where he studied on the Young Entrepreneur Programme.

 

Flynn, Claire web.jpgClaire Flynn, human resources director for the Jet2.com Leisure Group, is to be the tour operating director of Jet2holidays.com. Currently director of human resources for the entire company, Flynn will move across to the new role once a replacement has been found for the HR position.

Conrad Clifford, the former chief executive of Virgin Nigeria, is to be the new vice president of Emirates Airlines for the UK and Ireland. He will be replacing Vic Sheppard, who is retiring this year after 13 years with Emirates. Clifford will join the airline in September.
The Association of Cruise Experts (ACE) has appointed Flo Powell as its new director. 
Powell will have responsibility for the continued development and growth of the Association, with particular emphasis on providing new cruise training programmes, designing and implementing new online training resources and servicing the membership. Powell will also develop the ACE UK Cruise Convention. Powell is currently working for the Tourism Society as its executive director and will take up her new position in the autumn.

David Spooner is the new head of marketing for Sanctuary Retreats. Previously Spooner has worked for brands including Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental and One & Only Resorts.

Grupo Iberostar has announced Luis Hérault is its new chief marketing officer. In his new role, Hérault will be in charge of marketing for the groups business units worldwide leading the marketing strategy for both distribution channels and consumers, and coordinating and supervising plans and budgets.

Contiki has appointed Colette Hughes as the new sales executive for Northern England, Scotland and Ireland. Hughes comes to Contiki after eight years in the travel industry, working in business development for Travel2, reservations for Jetset and Lastminute.com and quality assurance for Emirates.

 

 

Webb, Rob web.jpgHilton Hotels Corporation (Hilton) has announced that Robert Webb has started as chief information officer. Webb will report to Paul Brown, Hilton president, global brands and commercial service.

 

Beresford, Stephen web.jpgMidlands Co-operative Society has announced the appointment of Stephen Beresford as public relations and marketing manager, heading up the corporate affairs department incorporating the advertising and design studio.

Oceania Cruises has announced that Kate Gibbs will join the company as agency sales support, UK and Europe.
Gibbs joins with 28 years travel industry experience. Having helped to set up Victoria Travel back in 1984, Gibbs has more recently been running her own business as a franchisee in the Fred Olsen owned Go Cruise operation.

Air China has announced the appointment of Siobhan D'Souza as its new leisure sales executive to the UK sales team. She joins from BMI and will work with Malcolm Day, sales and marketing manager UK and Ireland.

 

Mark Gorgon web.jpgThe Concorde Hotels and Resorts group has announced Mark Gorgon is its new director of sales and marketing for UK and Ireland. Gorgon is joining to head up the team from their offices in London Victoria.
Mark joined Concorde Hotels and Resorts from Worldhotels where he combined the positions of director sales and marketing for UK and Ireland with director of MICE for EMEA.

 

Belinda de Rome web.jpgEtihad Airways has appointed Belinda de Rome (above) as senior vice-president to lead its corporate communications team. De Rome was previously head of corporate communications at Qantas Airways in Australia.

 

Mascarenhas, Manuel web.jpgWendy Wu Tours has appointed Manuel Mascarenhas (above) as managing director following the recent departure of Laurence Hicks. Mascarenhas was most recently sales director at Kuoni. He has also held a variety of high-profile roles at companies such as British Airways, Thomson and Thomas Cook Signature.
