Airbus delays delivery of A380 superjumbos to Emirates

European planemaker Airbus is to postpone the delivery of 12 A380 aircraft to Emirates over the next two years.

Six deliveries of the A380 will be postponed from 2017 to 2018 and a further six from 2018 to 2019.

The announcement follows an agreement between engine maker Rolls Royce and Emirates and a consecutive deal between Airbus and Emirates, according to CNBC.

In a statement, the company said: “Airbus re-confirms the target to deliver around 12 A380s per year from 2018 as announced earlier
in July 2016. Further fixed cost reduction initiatives will be accelerated so the impact on break-even in 2017 is minimal.”

In November, the airline said it was having some issues with the Rolls Royce A380 engines that it had ordered.
