Clia River Cruise to welcome first-time visitors to conference

Almost two-thirds of the agents attending this weekend’s Clia River Cruise Conference in Amsterdam are first-timers, underlining trade interest in the fast-growing sector.

The event, which sold out in record time, will offer something for new and returning agents over the two days, according to Andy Harmer, director of Clia UK & Ireland. He said: “I am delighted that 60% of the agents attending this year will be new to the event and with four new ships it will also benefit returning agents.

“The tickets sold out in record time and this shows the interest of agents to grow their river sales.

“Demand for river cruising is increasing, and the conference is an opportunity for agents to learn, and for operators to showcase their ships, products and plans.”

The inaugural Clia River Cruise Excellence Awards will be handed out by sponsor Tauck. Operators sponsoring individual awards include AmaWaterways, Avalon Waterways, Pandaw, A-Rosa, French America Line and Uniworld. Emerald Waterways will host an after-party.

Speakers at the conference include Edie Rodriguez, Crystal Cruises; Lucia Rowe, A-Rosa; Giles Hawke, Avalon Waterways; and Anthony Rawlins, Digital Visitor.

Seven vessels will be available for delegates to visit on Monday.
