Greece flights face disruption due to strike

Flights in Greece face disruption until the end of the week due to strike action.

International services are expected to run as normal but travellers expecting to fly on domestic routes have been advised to check with their airline or tour operator.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office updated its travel advice to the country yesterday, warning that Greek trade unions have announced strike action that is expected to cause disruption to a number of domestic flights from today (Tuesday) until Saturday.

“If you intend to travel between these dates, contact your airline or tour operator for advice,” the FCO added.

Planned industrial action that would have affected Greek domestic flights for two days last week was cancelled on Thursday.

However, the FCO cautions that there are regular strikes in Greece, sometimes called at short notice, that can cause disruption to public transport, including air travel and ports.
