Silversea Cruises appoints Roberto Martinoli as chief executive

Cruise industry veteran Roberto Martinoli has been named as chief executive of Silversea Cruises.

The former president and chief operating office of Norwegian Cruise Line has been a board member of Silversea since 2013.

He takes over in the Monaco-based role from Enzo Visone who has been at the helm of Silversea for more than six years.

Martinoli, who takes the helm of the luxury line on September 19, has also held senior positions at Carnival Cruise Line and Costa and previously ran his own ship management business.

Silversea executive chairman, Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, said: “Roberto is a dedicated professional with a long track record of driving great companies to even higher heights. I am certain that he will be instrumental in pushing Silversea Cruises to consistently deliver unrivalled levels of luxury, service and business performance.”

Martinoli added: “I have known Manfredi for many years as a peer and a colleague, I have worked closely with the Silversea team in my role as a board member for the past four years, and I am excited to have been given the opportunity to further develop my relationship with this fantastic brand as it enters this new phase of growth.”
