Intrepid cancels Turkey trips following terror attack

All Intrepid Group departures to Turkey have been cancelled for the next week following the terrorist attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport.

The family adventure holiday operator’s move came as the numbers killed in the atrocity rose to 41, including 13 foreigners, with 239 injured.

Three attackers arrived in a taxi and began firing at the terminal entrance late on Tuesday. They blew themselves up after police fired back.

Flights resumed early this morning but with many cancellations and delays. British Airways suspended flights from London for a day.

Intrepid confirmed that none of its passengers were effected and all were accounted for.

The operator said: “We have made the decision to cancel all Intrepid Group departures for the next week, up to and including 5th July.

“We will make an assessment on trips departing from 6th July 2016 onwards once we have more information regarding the re-opening of Ataturk international airport.

“Our team of local experts is currently working on the ground in Istanbul to update us regularly on the security situation, and we are doing everything we can to provide support and assist with alternative arrangements for effected passengers.”
