Icelandic budget carrier Wow Air is adding New York to its transatlantic network with fares from the UK starting at £119 one way.

Flights from Reykjavik take off on November 25 with connections from Gatwick and Bristol airport.

The daily year-round service using Airbus A321 extended range aircraft will use Newark Liberty international airport.

Passengers from Gatwick and Bristol will fly on the airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft on the first leg of the journey.

The expansion to New York follows the start of services to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Washington, Toronto and Montreal from last month.

Airline cheif executive Skúli Mogensen said: “Having announced new routes to Canada and California plus our two new UK routes, the addition of New York is a reflection of our determination to keeping the momentum going and to continue changing the landscape of transatlantic travel.

“We know that New York is a desirable destination for many travellers from the UK and Europe, so it’s exciting to be able to add this vibrant, global city to our portfolio of North American destinations, making it even more accessible to those on a budget.”
