French air traffic control strike planned for Sunday

Passengers flying to and from France face delays and disruption this weekend due to strike action.

Eurocontrol – the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation – said on its website this afternoon that air traffic controller industrial action in France planned for Sunday March 20 to Tuesday March 22 was confirmed at a DSNA conference today.

“High participation” is expected from the Paris, Marseille and Brest Air Traffic Control Centres.

No reduction in the flight programme at Paris Charles De Gaulle International airport is expected.

Flight delay compensation company, EUclaim, said British travellers will likely not be able to claim any compensation for delays or cancellations caused by the strike because industrial action is not considered “extraordinary”.
