Flybe targets families by cutting peak fares

Flybe is seeking to combat peak summer holiday price hikes for families by cutting 20% off selected fares throughout the peak period.

The carrier has discounted rates by 20% on 1.5 million seats in a seven-day seat sale which ends at midnight tonight (Tuesday).

Travel can be taken across all holiday dates between April 12 and October 19, including May half-term, May and August Bank holidays, and the six-week peak summer travel period – but not Easter.

The airline says many destinations are still available for booking, with one-way fares starting at £11.49.

Examples include Birmingham to Milan and Bergerac, Manchester to Rotterdam, Norwich to Jersey and Exeter, Edinburgh to Knock in Ireland, and Doncaster and Exeter to Paris Charles De Gaulle.

Chief revenue officer, Vincent Hodder, said: “Flybe has committed to being the airline that champions easy, affordable and convenient travel for all and that includes doing the right thing when it comes to pricing during peak family holiday travel periods.

“Having a young family myself, I fully understand the frustrations of parents being financially penalised by having to travel during school holidays.

“Flybe is leading by example by ensuring that families can still find holiday bargains at times that suit them.”
