Kuoni marketing chief Seddon to join Scenic

Scenic has appointed former Kuoni marketing and digital director Steven Seddon as its head of marketing, digital and sales.

Seddon was part of the senior management team that oversaw the sale of Kuoni UK to Der Touristik, and was also responsible for commissioning the operator’s ‘running on water’ television advert.

Prior to joining Kuoni, he was head of marketing at Monarch Travel Group, and has also held positions with Virgin Trains and Tui UK. He will relocate to Manchester to join Scenic.

Chris Townson, Scenic UK managing director, said: “I’m thrilled to have someone of Steven’s experience join the team at such an exciting time. Steven shares our ambition and focus on growth, especially in the area of trade sales and digital marketing.

“He joins a global business which is leading the way in river cruising through both the Scenic and Emerald Waterways brands.”

Derek Jones, Kuoni managing director, said: “I am really sorry to lose Steven. He’s a great guy to work with and he’s made a huge contribution since he joined, particularly in the digital space.

“I know Steven has enjoyed his time at Kuoni but together with his family he has made a decision to relocate to the northwest. I know I speak on behalf of everyone here when I say that we will miss him and we wish him the best of luck with the next chapter of his career.”

In addition to forming part of the senior management team at Scenic, Seddon will oversee the Emerald Waterways brand in the UK.

His direct reports will include Scenic brand manager Nichola Absalom, Emerald Waterways brand manager David Winterton and national sales manager Angela Sloan.
