A new travel firm specialising in attracting golf tourists to Scotland has been launched.

DP&L Golf says it will target the domestic market as well as Europe and the US but will focus particularly on the emerging Chinese market.

The firm is part of DP&L Travel, an established independent travel businesses in Scotland and a subsidiary of the DP&L (Dundee, Perth and London) group.

The new firm will operate from the company’s existing bases in St Andrews and Dundee where experienced travel consultants will create bespoke packages to suit all budgets for individuals, couples, families or groups.

Alick Bisset, managing director of DP&L Group and chief executive of D&L Travel said: “DP&L Golf will offer an unforgettable golfing experience in Scotland, whether it be a short break or long golfing holiday.

“The emphasis will be on providing an outstanding golfing experiences harnessed to great value for money. We will uniquely provide a full tour arrangement for our clients which includes the provision of flights for both UK and overseas customers.

“DP&L Golf’s aim is to ensure its customers always enjoy the best offer at the best price and come away with an unforgettable Scottish golfing holiday experience.

“When we took over the DP&L Group last year it was always our intention to develop an inward golf tours business.

“It seemed a natural fit for a travel business based in Dundee and St Andrews – on the doorstep of two of Scotland’s most iconic golfing regions – to develop a golf tour business.

“Being a division of DP&L Travel, a fully regulated travel agent and accredited by Atol, Abta and Iata, DP&L Golg has the ability to create a full holiday package including flights and hotels. Importantly, this accreditation allows DP&L Golf’s customers to book with total confidence.”

The DP&L Golf team is managed by Paul Greenhill who has 25 years travel experience in both the leisure and corporate sectors with DP&L Travel.

He is supported by Bill Tinto, who has more than 50 years’ experience in the travel industry, in excess of 30 specialising in Scottish golf tourism.

Greenhill said: “Thanks to our knowledge, experience and the licensing requirements to operate in the international corporate travel arena, we will be able to offer customers the unique opportunity of having their Scottish golf experiences tailored to include flights from their local airport whether this be from within the UK or Internationally.”

Tinto added: “I am delighted to be working with DP&L Golf who are bringing a fresh and dynamic approach to Scottish Golf Tourism taking the burden out of the customer visit to Scotland’s great golf courses.”
