Princess Cruises is the latest cruise line to announce it is basing a new ship in Asia.
The line’s new ship, which is yet to be named, will be based in Shanghai, China, year-round when it launches in 2017.
The 3,600 passenger ship is currently being built in Fincantieri in Italy. The new vessel will feature 'Princess Class', a new onboard experience designed specifically for the Chinese market.
Jan Swartz, president of the line, said: “Deploying our next new ship in China underscores our strong commitment to growing the China cruise market and providing discerning travellers with amazing holiday experiences at sea.”
The brand first homeported a ship in China last year, with Sapphire Princess sailing from Shanghai. The ship is returning for a second season from year from June 4.
