Universal Studios Hollywood celebrates 50th anniversary with new rides

Universal Studios Hollywood is to celebrate its 50th anniversary with the opening of three new attractions.

Thrill ride ‘Fast & Furious – Supercharged’, immersive experience ‘Springfield’, and a ‘Nighttime Studio Tour’ are all due to open this year as part of the theme park’s most recent transformation.

‘Fast & Furious – Supercharged’, inspired by Universal Pictures’ most successful film franchise of all time, features the film’s original cast members and will propel guests at accelerated speeds of up to 120 miles per hour.

‘Springfield’ is designed to capture the spirit of the animated town and to enable visitors to engage with the colourful world of the Simpsons.

The studio tour will showcase an array of luminous onset lighting and special effects used in night-time production to enlighten guests on the art of moonlight movie-making.

Universal Studios Hollywood president, Larry Kurzweil, said: “For 50 years, Universal Studios Hollywood has given guests unprecedented access to the world’s most alluring business by inviting them to peek behind the velvet curtain and become part of the exciting movie-making process.

“We are reimagining over 75 per cent of our destination as we build upon our incredible success and expand our vision for the future, and we look forward to entertaining and inspiring guests for generations to come with what will ultimately be an entirely new theme park experience.”
