IF you are stuck on an oil rig in the middle of the hostile North Sea being battered by unforgiving winds, thoughts would no doubt drift to more pleasant pastimes.
Thoughts such as being stuck in the middle of the Caribbean sea on a sun-baked island with tranquil oceans and ridiculous cocktails stacked high with fruit decoration.
Backchat has learned that one such rigger contemplated this idyllic image for so long he could resist no more - and proceded to book an £11,000 holiday at 3am.
British Airways Holidays, which now takes bookings around the clock, was the recipient of the desperate call from a rig in the icy North Sea.
After taking advice on where to go, the rigger plumped for a luxury holiday in Barbados.
"This goes to show how valuable it can be having a 24hr booking service," said a BAH spokeswoman.
It also goes to show that oil riggers earn a stack load of cash.
