Viking to add two new ocean ships

Viking Cruises is to add two new ocean ships to its fleet in 2016.

Viking Sky and Viking Sea will be built with the same design as Viking Star (pictured), the line’s inaugural ocean ship which will begin sailing in May 2015.

Neil Barclay, head of sales for the UK, said: “Due to the outstanding success of our inaugural ship launch – Viking Star – Viking Cruises will launch two further ships in 2016.

“Our maiden season in 2015 is already nearly at capacity demonstrating the strength of the product and the loyalty our past passengers have in a Viking experience.”

The new ships will sail the same routes across Scandinavia and the Baltic and the Western and Eastern Mediterranean as well as two new itineraries for 2016 that explore the British Isles.

The new additions are the 15-day Into the Midnight Sun  from Bergen to London and 29-day Baltic Jewels & the Midnight Sun from Stockholm to London.
