Kuoni kicks off an interactive ‘scents of adventure’ campaign at its store at the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent today.
When shoppers push the buttons of any one of 10 destinations on a map of the world a puff of sensory aromas will be released “which captures the essence of the destination”.
Kuoni hopes the map will “ignite thoughts of holidays and travel ambitions to exotic far flung lands, tropical paradises and cultural gems”.
Each scent has been developed by the Aroma Company using technology to create the most authentic scents possible.
Destinations which have been brought to life include the US, Australia and Brazil.
The operator hopes the map will inspire a totally different way of connecting with customers’ in-store.
Kuoni Bluewater shop manager Hayley Potts said: “We are delighted to bring this unique piece of art to the shoppers of Bluewater.
“From my personal travels, nothing ignites travel stories like scents such as the spices of a Moroccan market or seaweed at the beach; my mind travels back to that moment before I’ve even realised it.”
Retail and trade marketing manager Brian Woodhouse added: “The scents and smells experienced in different countries are an integral part of the overall sensory experience of a holiday; and possibly one that we take for granted.
“We hope the Scents of Adventure map will entice customers to find out more about the destinations that inspired it.”
Shoppers will also have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win a holiday to the Maldives.
