Don’t put trust in operators

Following on from Barrie Harthern’s letter (Travel Weekly August 9) concerning Virgin Holidays/Sun seeming to be more interested in taking direct bookings rather than through the trade, I can endorse the feeling.

Virgin has recently been advertising its holidays on TV with a 10% discount. Theletter it sends out to interested clients states:”All bookings must be made direct withVirgin Holidays, travel agent bookings are not accepted.”

If anyone from Virgin responds to Mr Harthern’s letter, would they care to respond to this one. My plea to agents is not to count on the support of any operator, unless they have no direct-sell division.
