A couple plan to visit family near Auckland for three weeks next February. They’ll stay with relatives, but would like to book flights, car hire and a stopover to break up the return journey. Budget: £3000
15 Union Passage
Two staff members greeted me as soon as I walked into this tidy store, with one immediately taking charge of the enquiry and taking time to understand what sort of stopover I wanted before looking into flights. The friendly agent’s enthusiasm and first-hand knowledge of both Asia and New Zealand came across as she talked. She offered two quotations: £2,746, flying Malaysia Airlines, with a two-night stopover in Kuala Lumpur on the return leg, including car hire in Auckland; and £4,000, flying premium economy with Air New Zealand and Virgin Atlantic, with car hire plus hotel accommodation on a two-night stopover in Hong Kong. I was impressed that the agent offered both a quotation within my budget and an upsell option, and also that she offered ideas for what to do around Auckland. I’ll be coming back here next time I book a holiday.
