Disabled travellers ‘desperate to break free from shackles of lockdown’

Disabled travel specialist Limitless Travel has claimed “unparalleled sales” of holidays for 2021 after almost a year of Covid lockdowns and travel restrictions.

Bookings and their value have doubled over the final quarter of 2020, with long-haul trips most popular.

Some clients are even buying two separate holidays at the same time, according to the company.

A new South African safari is the best-seller so far this year.

The company said: “Disabled people have been one of the most isolated groups during the Covid pandemic, having to shield for the majority of the time.

“Now, it seems, this community is desperate to break free from the shackles of lockdown and ensure they have a holiday to remember in 2021.”

The latest booking trends “are a tangible indication that people are opting to push the boat out on bucket list trips after a year of isolation”.

Limitless Travel founder and chief executive Angus Drummond said: “For us, 2021 is the year for embracing new adventures, ticking off travel highlights that have been on your to-do list; be that bucket list trips full of epic experiences or quieter retreats to familiar locations.

“After a year of being at home, we want our customers to feel the magic of travel again.

“Travel is much more than just a change of scenery, it has the power to change people’s lives with multiple mental health benefits, which is much needed after the anxiety and stress of the past year.

“Our accessible and safe holidays reduce the isolation felt by many people with disabilities and their carers who sometimes haven’t been on holiday for years due to their disabilities.”
