Abta LifeLine urges those facing hardship to seek Christmas support

Industry charity Abta LifeLine has urged those facing hardship at Christmas to apply for support including grants or vouchers as soon as possible.

Services provided by the charity for those in the industry include emergency food vouchers, crisis grants for priority bills, debts and benefits advice and mental health and wellbeing support.

The deadline for applications for emergency (food voucher) support is Wednesday, December 16.

Abta LifeLine director Trudie Drake said: “Christmas can be a struggle for some at the best of times but this year, with our industry so badly impacted by the pandemic, we know there will be many people in our travel community suffering hardship.

“If you are worrying about providing Christmas dinner or giving the children hot meals during the holiday, or are finding it hard to buy the essentials or are in need of some emotional support, do get in touch and spread the word to your friends and colleagues. LifeLine is here to help this Christmas.”

For more information on the support available, email lifeline@abtalifeline.org.uk or apply here for assistance.

The TravelCares appeal launched earlier this year by Travel Weekly and Abta LifeLine has so far raised almost £17,500 to help support the charity’s work and is also still open for donations.
