Ex-Travel Weekly journalist creates travel PR firm

A PR firm for the ‘Covid-19 impacted world’ has been created by three travel and tourism communications specialists.

PHD Travel Consulting is led by three senior experts including former World Travel Market head of PR and ex-Travel Weekly journalist Paul Nelson.

He is joined in the start-up by Howard Salinger, who spent 14 years at TravMedia.com, and Darren Ryan, who managed the exclusive broadcast supplier relationship at WTM London for a decade.

The consultancy aims to help travel businesses navigate the Covid-19 pandemic and the negative impact it has had on the industry’s marketing and promotional budgets with “cost-effective” communications advice and strategies to maximise exposure all forms of media.

Nelson said: “I am delighted to be joining forces with Howard and Darren to run PHD Travel Consulting. I have worked extensively with them in my various roles and am excited to work alongside them to help the travel industry navigate these uncertain times.”

Salinger added: “Ever since Paul left WTM London in 2019, I knew I wanted to find a way of working together, and when he introduced me to Darren I knew we had an opportunity to provide companies with a well-rounded solution.

“Three people with years of experience, and a huge database of contacts, who can provide a cost-effective solution to anyone looking to promote their brand.”
