Crystal Ski cancels all 2020 France departures

Crystal Ski has cancelled all departures to France for the rest of the year.

The ski operator said current restrictions also meant it could not operate trips to Andorra, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, Italy, Norway, Switzerland up to December 13.

It follows news that Germany is seeking a deal between European countries to keep ski resorts closed until January.

Earlier this week, French president Emmanuel Macron it was preferable French resorts wait until January to open “under favourable conditions”.

Crystal updated its website to say: “We’re sorry to confirm that due to the impact of Covid-19 and the restrictions now in place, we can’t operate our holidays to France for departures up to and including 31 December 2020.

It added: “We’re aware of the French President’s recent announcement regarding restrictions in France. We’ll be proactively contacting any customers whose holidays are impacted as soon as possible to discuss their options, prioritising those due to travel in the coming weeks. We are continuing to monitor the situation.”

The operator said it will follow Foreign Office (FCDO) advice, “monitoring the situation closely” and “will do everything we can to get you to your destination”.

Customers affected by the changes were told they would be contacted by Crystal to discuss options.

“We’re sorry for the disappointment these updates will cause and we hope we can take you to the mountains soon,” the operator added.
