Thirty bars and restaurants will feature on P&O Cruises new ship Iona alongside involvement from a host of celebrity chefs.
New restaurants created exclusively for the 5,200-passenger ship include The Keel and Cow gastro pub; Ripples gelateria and The Glass House serving a tapas menu designed by award-winning Spanish chef Jose Pizarro.
New menus by Marco Pierre White and destination-inspired dishes are planned for when the giant new ship finally enters service in 2021 after its May debut was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Chef’s Table is also new and developed for Iona’s gala celebration nights by Marco Pierre White and French master patissier Eric Lanlard.
The menu features wine recommendations by TV expert Olly Smith who has also curated a wine selection for The Glass House.
Menus inspired by Spain and Norway, the countries Iona will visit, also feature on the new ship.
P&O Cruises is collaborating with Pizarro, Norwegian chef Kjartan Skjelde as well as Norwegian cook Marte Marie Forsberg to create dishes for Iona.
A partnership with Snowflake Luxury Gelato will create Ripples gelateria which will offer gelato cakes, sundaes, ice cream cookies and a gelato afternoon tea.
P&O Cruises Marabelle Gin will be produced in the world’s first gin distillery at sea in partnership with Salcombe Distilling Co.
The gin will be produced in Iona’s gin still ‘Columba’ named after the sixth century founder of the abbey on the island of Iona.
It will be bottled and labelled on board with bottles available for passengers to buy.
