John Cooper leaves Travel Village as Covid hits TV launch

John Cooper is leaving Travel Village Group at the end of the month after efforts to establish a TV channel were scuppered as co-funding dried up due to the impact of Covid-19.

Cooper, who joined the Blackpool-based agency just over a year ago, has been presenting travel and cruise shows on TV for 10 years, initially with Vision Cruise, where he set up a dedicated channel and programme offerings.

But co-funding from suppliers for the Travel Village TV project disappeared with the onset of the pandemic.

Cooper said: “I have really enjoyed my time with the Travel Village Group, and I can’t say how much respect I have for [chief executive] Phil Nuttall, and his wife Paula, they are true, good people, who put their all into the business, and I wish them and the team the success they deserve.”

He intends to stay in travel and is actively looking for future opportunities.

“I firmly believe that once this is all over, travel will bounce back in a big way, and we have to be prepared for when it does, and make plans for this, and I intend to be in that game,” Cooper added.
