Cabin crew redeployment specialist builds cross-sector partnerships

A specialist recruitment company set up to help redeploy cabin crew in other industries has developed a range of partnerships across sectors including healthcare, retail and hospitality.

Miramar Connect was set up by former airline captain Alan Williams and his wife and cabin crew professional Lyndsey Dodds, who both lost their jobs in the Thomas Cook collapse in 2019 before Williams was made redundant from a new role at Virgin Atlantic as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Williams said Miramar had since developed a working partnership with Project Wingman to provide cabin crew for the NHS and the wider healthcare sector, in addition to working with Cera Care and Care UK, Frasers Group in retail and hospitality group Soho House.

He said: “I am really pleased with the progress we have been making educating employers to the transferable skill-set of cabin crew and how they too can gain real value from the unparalleled training and experience of these high calibre professionals.

“We will be working with Frasers Group with their expansion plans in retail and are delighted to announce an agreement with Cera Care to provide support for a government initiative to get more people into health and social care as they too have recognised  the high level of medical training and the natural people-skills that cabin crew have to offer.”

He added: “We also are working with Care UK to provide further opportunities in healthcare across the UK and we are particularly pleased to be working with Soho House to provide exceptional talent for high-end service delivery roles across their luxury brand – it is great to be able to support the hospitality sector as they see their first green shoots of recovery.”

In addition to developing the partnerships, Miramar Connect has also received support from the Royal Aeronautical Society and Virgin Atlantic in reflection of its work to support the aviation sector.
