Advantage member Go Travel ceases trading

Family-owned agency Go Travel has closed the doors of its four branches in Kent and south London after 21 years in business.

The member of Advantage Travel Partnership, it had shops in Chislehurst, Locksbottom, Petts Wood and Blackheath.

A statement on the agency’s website said: “Nowhere to GO!!!!! After 21 years of a great family business Go Travel has ceased trading, due to falling victim of the Covid-19. We are very sorry to inform you that Go Travel Ltd has ceased trading with effect from 09 October 2020.

“Since the beginning of lockdown in March we have tried all means possible to keep our business running and all our staff employed during this very difficult time.

“Our staff have been amazing, working from home, agreeing to cut their hours.

“Unfortunately, after exhausting all avenues trying to survive, the family had to make the awful, heart wrenching decision to close its doors.

“It’s a very sad day, as we know we are not alone; many, many others are in the same position as us, who knows how long Coronavirus will keep tightening its hold on the travel industry.

“We are very lucky and thankful to have had such a loyal client base and fantastic staff for so many years.”

It advises customers to visit Abta’s website at www.abta.com/gotravel for more details.

The statement from Abta said Go Travel operated under the following trading names: Go Travel, Go Active Travel, Cultural Breaks, Lates and Coach Holidays.

Most holidays sold by Go Travel Ltd were sold as an agent for other tour operators, but it also sold a small number of Atol-protected flight-inclusive packages and a small number of package holidays which did not include flights, which are protected by Abta.

It is not connected to GoCruise & Travel, which is part of Fred Olsen Travel.
