Covid-19 testing for passengers and crew are part of an expanded set of health and safety measures introduced by Crystal.
Passengers will be required to complete a Covid test prior to departure and provide a printed copy of their negative result at check-in.
A second test will be taken upon arrival for boarding and passengers must test negative.
The enhanced Crystal Clean+ protocols build on an initial set of enhanced health and safety procedures released in July.
The new guidelines update the luxury cruise group’s pre-boarding and embarkation procedures, social distancing requirements, shore excursion policy, plus crew member standards and practices.
The new Crystal Clean + 3.0 protocols incorporate current recommendations provided by Clia to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Passengers will be required to purchase travel insurance and observe social distancing of at least six feet (two metres). In-suite babysitting will be suspended.
Passengers will only be allowed to leave the ship in port if participating in Crystal’s shoreside activities or excursions. Shuttle buses into town from ports will not be provided.
“Guests who do not comply with this requirement will not be permitted to re-board the ship,” the company said.
The measures apply across all brands – Crystal Cruises, Crystal River Cruises, Crystal Yacht Cruises and Crystal Expedition Cruises.
“The Crystal Clean+ protocols are predominantly consistent across the entire Crystal fleet, with some specific nuances to accommodate the differences of the individual ships and Crystal Experiences,” the company added.
Crystal has voluntarily extended its suspension of global voyages until December 31.
