National Travel Agent Day UK to be annual fixture

Intrepid Travel says it will make National Travel Agent Day UK & Ireland an annual fixture after the operator was “overwhelmed” with the response from the trade.

The inaugural event took place on July 24, with travel companies including cruise lines, tourist boards and tour operators showing their appreciation for travel agents. Industry bodies Abta, Clia and Atas also sent video messages of support.

Agents took part in a host of activities and competitions in the event, which mirrored similar days celebrating the role of the travel agent in Australia, Canada and the US.

Hays Travel agent Aaron Petty won a place on Intrepid’s new Morocco Retreat after several of his colleagues nominated him for giving outstanding support to customers during the pandemic as well helping to care for his foster siblings.

Confirming next year’s event will take place on July 23, 2021, Intrepid’s EMEA managing director Zina Bencheikh said: “I was overwhelmed with the positive response to the first National Travel Agent Day in the UK.

“After such a tough few months, agents told us the day gave them a real morale boost and a positive message to share with their clients. We already have lots of ideas of how we can make next year’s National Travel Agent Day even bigger and better.”

More updates on the next event will be announced via the Intrepid Loves Agents Facebook group.
