Intrepid hails ‘fantastic’ response to National Travel Agent Day plans

Trade bodies, travel agents, tour operators, tourist boards and airlines are lined up to take part in the UK’s inaugural National Travel Agent Day.

Launched by Intrepid Travel, the virtual appreciation event will take place on Friday July 24, “celebrating the valuable role of travel agents and their extraordinary efforts during the Covid-19 crisis”.

Zina Bencheikh, Intrepid Travel’s EMEA managing director, said: “The response to National Travel Agent Day from across the industry has been fantastic so far.

“We have a host of exciting plans for Friday and can’t wait to recognise and reward agents for the essential role they play in our industry.”

There will be interviews with travel agents about how they helped clients and a Q&A with customers about why they value their travel agent.

The day will also feature quizzes, competitions and awards.

Intrepid Travel is asking agents to share ‘above and beyond’ stories of colleagues who went the extra mile for clients during the Covid-19 crisis.

Nominees will have the chance to win an Intrepid trip for two to Morocco.  Entries should be sent to UKPGM@intrepidtravel.com

To support National Travel Agent Day, share your social updates using the hashtag #NTADUK on July 24.

Announcing plans for the day earlier this month, Bencheikh told Travel Weekly: “Even when Covid-19 is behind us, we believe National Travel Agent Day UK warrants a permanent place in our national calendar to serve as a reminder of the crucial role agents play in travel, both during a crisis and getting businesses back on their feet, and as a way of giving travel agencies the recognition that is so often overlooked.”
