Abta launches travel guide to help holidaymakers plan trips

Abta has produced a travel guide to take holidaymakers through all the extra steps they need to consider when going on a trip.

Abta welcomed the government’s decision to lift a number of destinations from its blanket Foreign Office advice against all but essential travel from today, July 4.

In response it has launched a new advice page on its website to help travellers book holidays with confidence. This will be promoted via a social media advertising campaign to reach more than 500,000 prospective holidaymakers.

The ‘Restarting travel – a guide for customers’  is found at abta.com/restartingtravel and offers up-to-date advice to manage consumers’ expectations and underline the value of booking with an Abta-bonded travel firm.

The advice page includes: how to plan for a trip abroad; what to expect from a package holiday once in destination; and considerations for return to the UK. It highlights the new health, safety, hygiene and security measures in place.

Abta also plans to share travel related content across its social channels with #restartingtravel to highlight how destinations are reopening and preparing to welcome Brits this summer.

Mark Tanzer, Abta chief executive, said:“Months of travel restrictions have understandably led to a pent up demand for holidays, with many holidaymakers eager to book a well-deserved break.

“As international travel begins to restart, it’s important that Abta, as a trusted travel organisation, provides customers with information and advice that will help them book with confidence.

“This new webpage will guide holidaymakers through the considerations when it comes to planning a holiday in this new environment and will be updated with the latest guidance as the opportunities to travel continue to evolve.”
