Rail ticket supplier RailTourGuide has launched a rail-only product for travel agents and tour operators.
UK Rail Breaks allows trade partners who register for its portal to design city breaks and excursions to UK cities such as London, York, Edinburgh, Manchester and Inverness.
A London By Rail product with quarterly set prices from most UK mainline stations, and bespoke longer rail itineraries and group rail tours, including to Scotland and Ireland, will also be available.
Fares will be at net rates so cheaper than customers pay direct through rail companies, RailTourGuide said, adding that agents and operators would add their own margin.
RailTourGuide was set up by former train driver and railway employee David Glover in 2010. Glover said: “Rail is proving to be one of the most popular modes of transport for people holidaying in the UK. With the recent failures of companies like Superbreak, Shearings and other rail break operators; RailTourGuide have seen a vast increase in enquiries for these type of rail breaks.”
“There is a definite void in the industry for suppliers who offer these types of UK staycation breaks. Using my company’s expert rail knowledge, established suppliers and experience of creating these itineraries for many years – we wanted to share this with our partners in the travel industry, this is why we are pleased to launch UK Rail Breaks”
