G Adventures urges agents to join Inca Trail Step Challenge

G Adventures is encouraging agents to don their hiking boots and join an Inca Trail Step Challenge in and around their own homes.

The adventure tour operator has partnered with Craghoppers to launch the challenge to complete 55,000 steps – the number it would take to hike the Inca Trail – in response to a positive start to bookings across a number of its Peru itineraries for 2020 and 2021.

It is part of a wider campaign to educate agents on experiences in Peru, and in particular to increase their knowledge and understanding of The Inca Trail, one of G Adventures’ top selling tours.

The challenge runs from Monday, June 15, until Thursday, June 18.The operator’s sales team will produce Inca Trail facts, photographs, videos and stories during the challenge, which agents can do on their own or as part of a team.

Each agent who completes the full 55,000 steps during the four-day challenge will be entered into a competition to win a pair of Salada Desert Hi Boots from Craghoppers’ new footwear range, worth £120.

G Adventures managing director Brian Young said: “Peru has always been a key destination for G Adventures. It’s encouraging to see the first green shoots of bookings from travellers looking to return to this incredible destination.

“We are committed to helping upskill and support our agents, through fun and interactive campaigns, to help them offer the expertise and knowledge travellers are looking for.”

The operator’s wider Peru campaign, of which the Inca Trail challenge is a part, includes dedicated agent training and webinars on Peru’s regions, communities and trips. G Adventures offers active adventures such as its Lares and Salkantay Treks, the Amazon rainforest, and the lesser visited northern regions, featured  in its National Geographic Journeys’ collection.

Agents who want to take part in the Inca Trail Steps Challenge can register here and join the G Adventures Agents of Change Facebook Group for more details. Using a step tracker, agents can submit their daily step count to outsidesalesuk@gadventures.com
